Congregations declare an area around their churches as Holy Ground. Community walks and meetings are held to connect and build relationships with residents, businesses, organizations and churches around issues that are important to the people in that community. Two examples are:
- Second Chance Ministries
has built a collaborative of block clubs, School 53 and churches to revitalize a neighborhood park that can serve the youth and senior citizens in their neighborhood. Partnerships are being built with businesses, public officials, the police department and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to revitalize the park to offer supervised activities for young people

St. Joseph University Roman Catholic Church
has formed a collaborative to address problem properties, absentee landlords and the upkeep of Main Street in the University area. A Community Development Corporation has been formed to purchase and renovate two properties and sell them to medium and moderate-income individuals to increase home ownership in the area where decay is beginning to take place.
